Tool & Service For Design of Custom Computer Boards
Compulab offers a service and tool for easy creation of custom computer boards. These are collectively named RoboDesigner. It enables the user to specify required functions, board size, connector type and location, and then get a functional board that matches the specifications. Linux is installed and all selected functions are supported.
Use of RoboDesigner does not require engineering skills. The finalised custom board can be efficiently manufactured in any quantity.

Workflow Comparison
How it’s done …
- You must have a list of required functions and tentative mechanical specs.
- RoboDesigner provides a simple intuitive interface enabling you to specify the functions you need, board shape and connector locations. You can experiment with these as long as necessary. It is possible to design and save many different versions.
- You can review 2D and 3D mechanical specs from the tool itself or by generating DXF files.
- When you are satisfied, you request production. The tool will check that the requested design is indeed manufacturable and you can continue to place an online order.
- The design is then forwarded to Compulab’s engineering department. We check and approve it, communicate with you if necessary, and initiate the automatic process of PCB manufacturing.
- After PCB manufacturing, the board is assembled and tested with the aid of robotic tools. The Computer core is programmed with the operating system.
- Prototype boards are then shipped to you.
- It is possible to order any additional quantity of the same design. If production volume increases, we will prepare setup for our fast assembly lines and unit price will be optimised accordingly.
